First Presbyterian Church of Asheville
Claimed by the Triune God, we worship only God
and are called by the Holy Spirit
to share the boundary breaking love of Christ
in our life together, in the heart of Asheville,
                         and in the whole world.

Presbyterian Women

Journeys Through Revelation; Apocalyptic Hope for Today      by Barbara R. Rossing

“Barbara Rossing leads us to a renewed creation in which God comes to live with us on earth.  This hope-filled vision speaks to us in the midst of the urgent cries of our day.  In a time when all creation stands at a turning point, the book of Revelation can help guide the choices we make as we seek to live into the renewal that God promises to our world.”  Nine sessions of study on the book of Revelation will be led by Rev. Mark Burnham and meet once a month on a Thursday morning.  The first session will be August 26 at 10:30am. The Presbyterian Women are studying Revelation for 2010-2011 and invite anyone interested to join this challenging opportunity.  Study books are available for $8.00 published by Horizons.  Contact Nancy McNeill 253-1431 to sign-up for this class and order a study book.

Presbyterian Women We look forward to another year in our circles and in our many opportunities to help others through our gifts and through our time as we experience our love for this church and community. If you have been unable to complete your pledge, you may do so by sending it to Valorie Vliek.  Though we have not been large in numbers, we have been at work in many directions.  We hope to have many of you join our ranks as our new coordinating team takes the reins under the leadership of Sandra  Strickland.  We'll keep you posted on what's happening!  Have a great summer and remember the boxes at the church which are there all the time for your small soaps, calendars, tooth brushes, etc. for the WNC Women's Prison, WNC Rescue Mission and the Presbyterian Home.  Thanks to all of you who help to make this world a better place both here and around the globe.  It has been a  pleasure to serve as your Moderator this year.

Sincerely,  Gay Kriek
