Jack Cloninger is a native of Asheville and has been a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1994.  In the past, he has served as an usher and sound operator for the morning worship services, and a teacher of Faith Development Classes for Senior High Youth.  He is a trial attorney who handles personal injury matters and commercial litigation, including construction cases.

Steve Frellick is a builder whose company, Cornerstone Builders, is focused on "green building" and making a positive impact on the environment locally.  He is also an elder currently serving on the Session.

D'Etta Leach graduated from Agnes Scott College with a degree in history, then earned two graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - an M.A. in History, and an M.B.A.  In spite of that background, she has managed to spend most of her life working in art: television production, pottery, and fine arts.

Dee Mason is a life-long Presbyterian and has expertise in marketing, media relations, development and communications.  For the past three years she has been directly involved in the planning (with architects, builders, engineers, and financial folks) of a large expansion at Deerfield Retirement Community.

Bill McMinn is an internationally renown architect who once practiced in Asheville.  He moved from Asheville to be the Dean of the School of Architecture, first at Mississippi State University, then at Cornell University, and finally at Florida International University.

Esther Pardue has been a member of this congregation since 1997 and a Presbyterian for nearly 4 decades.  She has served on the Worship Committee in three different churches and has a particular interest in lay leadership of worship.  Esther has served on our Session and is at present on the Member Care Committee.  She is a Stephen Minister and she and her husband, Len, are members of the Greening the Congregation faith development class.

Sue Sparboe-Deery is an engineer, member of the Chancel Choir, and a leader of the Girl's Club (for Senior High girls) in the Youth Program at First Presbyterian Church.

Valorie Vliek has been involved in music her entire life, including employment as the Assistant Director of Music at a large suburban Atlanta Methodist church.  Professionally, she has 18 years experience in Human Resource management and contract administration for a major US corporation.  Additionally she has held executive positions in a variety of charitable organizations including the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation and Canine Assistants.

Paul Vliek, though raised in the Reformed Tradition, is a relatively new Presbyterian.  He came to Asheville nearly six years ago after retiring with 33 years with UPS; rising to the position of corporate Vice President.  He currently serves on the Session, the Hospitality Committee and co-chairs the sanctuary renovation committee with his wife, Valorie.

Eric Wall serves on the committee as the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church.

John Webb is the principal at Webb Insurance Company and is an active leader in non-profit boards in the city.  He is a native son of First Presbyterian Church and is a member of the Chancel Choir.
