First Presbyterian Church of Asheville
Claimed by the Triune God, we worship only God
and are called by the Holy Spirit
to share the boundary breaking love of Christ
in our life together, in the heart of Asheville,
                         and in the whole world.

Special Worship Services

In addition to Sunday morning worship services, special services are held on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve as well as a special Sunday morning service conducted by the youth on a designated Youth Sunday. Evensong services are held during special seasons of the year.

On a more informal basis, special evening prayer services are held in the sanctuary on some Wednesday evenings, and opportunities for prayer, worship, and spiritual growth are offered at the church’s annual summer retreat.

In celebration of the sacraments, the Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, alternating between seated Communion and Communion by intinction. Services of Baptism are celebrated during Sunday morning worship services.

Worship services also include services of Christian Marriage and services of Witness to the Resurrection (funerals) which are held in the sanctuary or in the Campbell Chapel.

Children are encouraged to participate in worship services with special opportunities provided for them appropriate to their age level.
