Children are vital participants in the life of the church. We welcome their unique and diverse gifts which build up the body of Christ. In keeping with our baptismal vows as a congregation, we seek to guide and nurture their faith.

One way we keep those promises is through classes, worship education, mission opportunities and seasonal events. Children at FPCA play, learn, grow, explore their faith in God and serve together.  Our children’s ministry is organized by age/school grade, and offers children a wide variety of age-appropriate learning opportunities that engage head, heart, and hands.

Sunday Bible Journeys at 9:45 a.m. is the foundation of our children’s ministry, as children gather for engaging Bible study, prayer, caring for one another, and building community.  Nursery care is available for birth – kindergarten during all worship services, classes and during most church events.

Birth – Toddler

The youngest members of our ministry receive loving and attentive care by our skilled, trained nursery staff and volunteers. Infants begin experiencing God’s love in a trusted safe environment. Comfortable rocking chairs, a diaper change table and a variety of toys are available to all and nursing mothers are always welcome.

Through safe, structured play, a simple Bible story, snack, and fellowship children are introduced to God’s love and grace. They experience being a wonderful and unique part of God’s family.

Three-, Four-, and Five-Year-Olds

Children experience God’s love and grace by learning Bible stories and engaging in related activities, group games, arts and crafts, fellowship, play and enjoy gathering together around the table for snack.

Bible Journeys for Kindergarten – 5th grade

Our Bible Journeys curriculum is structured to introduce learners in kindergarten - fifth grade to stories of the Bible. Bible Journeys is an interactive, multi-sensory learning environment that brings select age-appropriate Bible stories to life. Wondering questions help draw children into the story, imagine where they fit in the story, how they might act, and what they have to share with others from the story.

Each story is taught in four one-week sessions that are structured to appeal to different learning styles. Each lesson in the four-week module is structured around a different type of activity: art, computer, drama, puppets, and games. The stories change each month and are carefully selected to convey God’s love and grace, introduce learners to the life and teachings of Jesus, and how to live as faithful followers in the world.

Market Place 29 A.D. Vacation Bible School

For a week each summer, children can explore the time when Jesus lived by joining a tribe of Israel in a bustling Judean town. Children hear Bible stories from our storytellers, see Bible dramas come alive, study with the Rabbi, visit the shops, make crafts, play games, dance, make music and serve others. More than 100 volunteers from seven area churches come together to make this a fun, unforgettable learning opportunity for children.

Market Place invites children ages 3-5th grade as participants, youth 6th -12th grade and adults serve as wonderful volunteers.
