Deacons & Caring Ministries
The deacons are set apart and specially gifted to provide a ministry of care and compassion to the, “poor, the hungry, the sick, the lost, the friendless, the oppressed, those burdened by unjust policies or structures, or anyone in distress.” The deacons provide prayer support, emotional and spiritual support, take communion to those who are unable to come to worship, and provide tangible care in the form of meals, rides, or visits.
Our membership is divided into Deacon Parishes led by a team of Deacons working together to provide caring assistance to you in your time of need, and to acquaint members within a parish with one another and with the whole congregation, thereby sharing in the boundary-breaking love of Christ throughout the whole church family. Assignments are based on geographical area.
Many in our congregation are trained as Stephen Ministers, which means they are gifted and skilled at being a compassionate Christian friend and listener to those who are going through difficult times in life. If you would like to be connected with a Stephen Minister, contact Patrick Johnson firstname.lastname@example.org.
The member care team helps to provide meals to individuals and families in life transitions, such as when a baby is born, when a family moves, or when a loved one dies.
The bereavement care team supports families in a time of grief by coordinating a reception after a funeral, when requested by the family. If you would like to be connected to the caring ministries of the church or to the deacons, please contact Rev. Rebecca Gurney email@example.com
