New Exhibit in the Gallery

Improvisational Quilts

The new exhibit in the gallery during March and April will feature “art quilts” (wall hangings) created by Black Mountain fabric artist Martha Jane Petersen. Her quilts are generally improvisational, springing from her imagination which is inspired by poetry, nature, and Scripture. Petersen is an ordained Presbyterian Minister of the Word who views her art as part of her ministry. Her work intends to convey a spiritual meaning, desiring to feed hungry spirits through her art. She is the author of Imaging My Inner Fire: Finding My Path Through Creating Art. The artist will be giving a gallery talk during Faith Development hour on April 8.
