WHILE I STILL HAVE BREATH!
The Reuter Center Singers In Concert
(the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute's community chorus)
Sunday - Nov 19 @ 3 pm
First Presbyterian Church - Asheville
While I Still Have Breath celebrates the embrace of aging with our heads held high, our eyes wide open, and eager to see what new opportunities are just around the next corner. Whether singing with full fanfares in Fanfare for a Festival, quiet petitions in Borning Cry, or bold statements of action in We Shall Overcome, we sing as if our life depends upon it - because it does. Listener and performer alike will journey together with both ancient and contemporary texts, musically pointing towards a time when, as the final song of the program proclaims: All Shall Be Amen and Alleluia!
The Reuter Center Singers join with the Givens Estates Vesper Choir and the Biltmore United Methodist Church Choir to sing songs spanning four centuries. Under the direction of Chuck Taft, the combined effort of over 120 singers will be accompanied by brass, cello, flute, percussion, piano and pipe organ. Chuck Taft is celebrating his 20th year as Director of the Reuter Center Singers.
