Waiting in Color: An Intentional Advent Practice

Connect as a community in a new way this Advent.  Together we will create a progressive piece of art that proclaims the Christmas message. Each of the five posters features a different set of characters from the birth narrative and four names for the Messiah corresponding with the text from Isaiah 9:6. Each week you'll find a new, completed part of the project hanging in the Gallery until Christmas.

We hope you'll pick up some colored pencils, let go of any ideas of whether or not you are an "artist," and embrace this creative project in mindful waiting. You may find a poster to be colored in your Faith Development class one week, at a church dinner, at a gathering at Givens, or in the Powell Atrium on Sunday morning.

If you'd like to take up this Advent Practice as part of your personal devotional life this season, you'll find smaller coloring sheets and "doodling starter art" on a table in the Gallery ready to go home with you.  Please bring them back and display them in the Gallery once completed!

Together, we can intentionally celebrate Advent, training our hearts and our hands to wait in color, and in community.
