The church is a community, in communion with God and with one another for the sake of the world. At First Presbyterian, we seek to be...
A community of faith,
which entrusts itself to God
A community hope,
which rejoices in God’s new creation in Christ
A community of love,
where sin is forgiven and wholeness is made real
A community of witness,
that points beyond itself to the grace of Christ
Special Worship Services
Through the year, we celebrate the following special worship services on Wednesday Nights after sharing supper together at 5:30 p.m. The services usually begin at 6:30 p.m. and often the Chorister & Cherub Choirs participate as well as our Youth- in leadership & music.
- Epiphany Worship
- Ash Wednesday Worship
- Maundy Thursday Worship
- All Saint's Worship
- Thanksgiving Worship
- Moravian Lovefeast
- Christmas Eve Worship services
We have our annual church picnic on a Sunday afternoon in May following the 11 a.m. worship service. This is a wonderful event: a chance to sit at picnic tables and enjoy the beauty of our mountains and the company of friends, old and new.
Garden for All Ages
We support the garden in the spring and summer seasons on Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Home Grown Garden at the Black Mountain Home for Children is now in its seventh year thanks to members of First Pres and Christ Community Church in Montreat. This year we've been offered the opportunity to work alongside men from Good Works, parishioners from our neighbor Trinity Episcopal's Church of the Advocate. Come join us-- the evenings at Home Grown are especially beautiful and no experience is necessary.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame Night!!!
In July, we spend an evening at the Asheville Tourists Ballgame. We plan to sit together as a group and enjoy $1 hot dogs & the fireworks that follow the game!
