Paintings of seven members of the Appalachian Pastel Society will be on exhibit in the gallery during May and June. Thanks to Karen Chambers, FPCA member, for coordinating this exhibit.

The Appalachian Pastel Society was founded in the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2006 to promote an understanding and appreciation of pastel painting throughout Western North Carolina and surrounding states for the benefit of artists, collectors, and those who appreciate the medium. It also strives to foster, encourage, and develop general public appreciation for the pastel medium through sponsoring speakers, classes, and exhibits. Through working in conjunction with artists in the schools and encouraging the appreciation and understanding of creative arts among students and the general public, this organization will also serve as an educational institution in the community.
