Connecting youth in Christian community helps them develop a peer-base outside of their schools – a place based on the principle of inclusion – a place to find acceptance that reflects the boundary-breaking love of God.
Sunday morning classes are offered for Middle School and Senior High youth from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. Since our youth come from all over the Asheville-Buncombe area, we provide time each Sunday for snacks, for sharing highs and lows, as well as growing in faith through Bible study and reflection on topics related to faith and current events. On Sunday mornings our Middle School youth occasionally help in service projects like Room in the Inn, and our Senior Highs sometimes join adult classes for special speakers and programs. About once a quarter we help prepare and serve breakfast to our downtown neighbors at Pritchard Park.
Confirmation is the time set aside for youth to explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and learn how that commitment can be expressed through active participation in a faith community. At FPCA we offer this class every other year on Sunday mornings from February through May, with members being in the 8th grade and older. The next class will begins with an opening retreat February 25-26, 2017.
